He is survived by: his mother Emma Jean Johnson; his stepfather Gregory Frank Johnson of Atlanta, GA.; his grandmother Odell Herring; his siblings, James Perry Dixon of Wilmington, NC, Jean Carol Hope of Atlanta, GA, Caraletta Williams of Atlanta, GA, Walter Herring III of Fayetteville, NC, Terry Theodore Herring of Alanta, GA, Dr. Melvin Herring of Charlotte, NC. and Gloria Towana Herring; and his children, Roshenia Johnson, Treva Herring, Thurman Herring Jr. of Virginia and Torri Bethea. He is also survived by ten grandchildren.
