He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles W. Blackwell and Ruth J. Blackwell; his wife Joyce E. Blackwell; his brother James W. Blackwell; his sister-in-law Gae Blackwell; the mother of his children Ivy W. Blackwell; and his grandson David Garland.
He is survived by: his children, Jacque Mitchell, Barry Blackwell (Tia), Marsha VanHorn, Allen Wilkins, Lisa Banks (Steve) and Amanda Nabors (Scott); his grandchildren, Chris Garland, Jason Deyton (Angela), Jacob Blackwell (Dawn), Andrea Martin (Johnathan), Jeremy Korfhage (Melanie), Kayla Stumpf, Reid Watkins, Mac Wilkins, Sullivan Wilkins and Lindsey Bohanon; and his great grandchildren, Emilee, Austin, Joshua, Raeley, Parker, Zac, Natalee, Wyatt, Lainey and Cole. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
