He is survived by: his wife Gail Hunter; his daughters, Jennifer Hunter of Atlanta and Ashley Lawson (Reid) of Lake Suzy, Florida; his brothers, William Hunter (Mary Morgan) of Newport News, Virginia and Eric Hunter (Sandra) of Advance; and his grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, Jonathan, David Lawson, William, Philip and Henry Stith.

The family would prefer donations to Southwest Christian Hospice in lieu of flowers.
