He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Simmons Mitchell; and his son Ronald D. Mitchell, Jr.. He is survived by: his children, Casey Spell (Curt) of Athens, Candice Brock (Jeffery), Rhonda Mitchell, Diane, Jennifer, Stephanie Mitchell, Jonathan Mitchell, David Mitchell and Ryan Mitchell of Statesboro; and his sister Debbie Podger of Franklinton, NC.
