He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Bedat, Sr. and Jean Bedat; his half-sister Jean Banckowski; and his brother Robert Bedat. He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Erbter Bedat of Pinellas Park, Florida; his daughter Kathryn Lanier (Curtis) of Jesup; and his grandchildren, Alexis Bedat, Mollysue Lanier, Haley Lanier and Lena Lanier. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
