He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Phillips and Pauline Phillips; his siblings, Rita Brock and Melvin Phillips; and his sister-in-law Gertrude Phillips.

He is survived by: his wife Vicki Lewis Phillips of Jesup; his daughters, Leaisha Phillips and Laura Sloan (Tim); his brother Carroll Phillips (Linda) of Tybee Island; his grandchildren, Matthew Phillips, Dylan, Evan and Jarrett Sloan; and his brother-in-law Arthur Brock of Jesup. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
