She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Ammons and Mary Lou Thornton Ammons; her brothers, Buddy Ammons and Bob Ammons; her former husband Eugene Johnson; her son Timothy Johnson; her granddaughter Brandy Sinclair; and her stepdaughter Lori Thornton.

She is survived by: her husband Tracy Thornton of Jesup; her children, Angela Gill (Wade) of Offerman and Curtis Johnson (Beth) of Zebulon; her siblings, Maxine King, Maryann Gest (Benny) of Offerman, Margie Smith of Jesup, Vicky Bowen (Keith), Melba Byrd (Jim) of Bristol, Danny Ammons (Betty) of Everett City, Donnie Ammons (Mary) of Blackshear, Daryl Ammons (Gail) of Offerman, Paul Ammons of Bristol and Joe Ammons (Brenda) of Wildwood, Florida; her grandchildren, Danyell Sweat, Merina Spell, Scott Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Adam Gill (Nikki), Carol Ann Griffis (Hank) and Samantha Johnson; and her stepchildren, Matt Thornton (Julie) of Madisonville, Robin Thornton (Sarah) and Travis Thornton (Wendy). She is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
