She was predeceased by: her grandparents, Katherine Carey, Melvin and Jean Gerling; and her stepgrandmother Helen Gerling. She is survived by: her parents, Larry Gerling and Patti Gerling of Winfield, IA; her daughter Freyja Alvarez of Clarksville, TN; her siblings, Natalie Nott (JR) of Muscatine, IA, Saul Gerling of Amarillo, TX and Jon Gerling (Gladys) of Burleson, TX; and her grandfather Keith Carey of Columbus Junction, IA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Gerling Family.
