He was predeceased by: his parents-in-law, Joe Carter and Evelyn Carter; and his brothers-in-law, Ronell Carter and Dick Elder. He is survived by: his wife Mary Carter Stearns of Jesup; his son Michael Jerry Stearns; his stepdaughter Dianne Gerace (Mike) of Colorado; his sisters-in-law, Betty Elder of Denver, Dorothy Toombs (Ben) of Jesup and Madelyn Lewis (Howard) of Screven; and his sons, Durwood Miller and Brad. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545.
