He is survived by: his wife Helen McConnell Gunnels of Jefferson; his sons, Thomas K. Gunnels (Tommy) of Jefferson and Mac Gunnels (Dawn); and his grandchildren, Vivian of Raleigh, NC and Brantley Gunnels of Raleigh, NC.
