It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Mae Smith of Jefferson, Georgia, born in Jackson, Georgia, who passed away on June 14, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Loyd M. Brooks and Annie Jane Lee Brooks; her husband Jesse "Junior" Smith; her grandson Jacob Jesse Bryant; and her siblings, Ruth Smith, Nettie Carter, Harrrison Brooks, Donald Brooks and Alfred Brooks.

She is survived by: her daughters, Deborah Smith Bryant of Jefferson and Stacy Brooks of Jefferson; her adoptive son Tommy Brooks of Jefferson; and her grandchildren, Joshua Bryant (Tiffany) of Statham, GA, Dustin Sullivan of Jefferson and Destiny Sullivan of Jefferson.
