He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Simonds and Maye Simonds; his wife Thelma Simonds; and his close friend Patsy Payne. He is survived by: his children, Richard Simonds of Jasper, Wanda Gay of Jasper, Johnny Simonds of Ellijay, Junior Simonds of Jasper, Roseann Simonds of Jasper, Dianne Simonds of Ellijay, Jimmy Simonds of Jasper, Patricia Medley of Marble Hill, Lamar Simonds of Jasper and Tracy Ramey of Ball Ground; and his sister Betty Raye of Canton. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the Roper Funeral Home and Crematory (206 Holly St, Jasper, GA 30143). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel (206 Holly St, Jasper, GA 30143). A burial was held on Sunday, January 5th 2025 at the Price Creek Baptist Church Cemetery (2355 E Price Creek Rd, Talking Rock, GA 30143).
