He was predeceased by: his father Othell Stanfield; and his nephew Christopher Stanfield. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Stanfield; his children, Patty Morris, Lynn (Brandon Custer), Diana (Jared Mullis) and Randy Stanfield; his mother Ruth Stanfield; his siblings, Kathy (Oliver Bridges), Donna Bowron and Wendell; his sister-in-law Deborah Stanfield; his brothers, Kline (Debra Stanfield), Denver (Tracey Stanfield) and David Stanfield; and his aunt Martha Beamon. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
