She was predeceased by: her parents, Preston Smith and Christine Mimbs Hartley; her husband James Clayton Smallwood; and her sister Betty Smith. She is survived by: her daughters, Sonya Smallwood and Kay; her son-in-law Wayne Bell; her grandchildren, Bradley Riser, Julie Cochran Cox, Sean Riser, John Cochran, Danielle Bell and Nathan Bell; and her siblings, Rufus Smith and Carolyn Plemmons. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
