He was predeceased by: his parents, James Floyd Fields, Sr. and Marcelle Densmore Fields; his sister Patricia Nolen; and his brother-in-law Michael "Mike" Scott Cothren. He is survived by: his wife Shannen Humphries Fields of Dublin; his children, James "Jay" Floyd Fields, III (Addison) of Dublin and Mallory Fields McManus (Joel) of Marietta; his sisters, Marcia Fields Worley (Michael) of Greenville, SC and Cynthia Fields Wheeler (Michael) of Raleigh, NC; his parents-in-law, Willard Humphries of Albany and Brenda Penny Humphries of Albany; his sister-in-law Melanie Humphries Cothren of Albany; and his pets, Daisy Mae Fields and Callie Fields McManus. He is also survived by 4 nephews, 6 nieces.
