He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Morris Merkl and Emma Kay Merkl; his wife Helen Louise Hicks Merkl; and his brother-in-law Harry Kinchen, II. He is survived by: his children, Lynda (Wayne Price), Judy (Steve Jaggears), Brad (Heather Merkl) and Ken Merkl; his grandchildren, Jay Price, Emma, Lane Ferrell, Chris Price, Anna, Joseph Hart, Banks Merkl, Jackson Merkl and Amelia Grace Merkl; his great grandchildren, Tucker Ferrell, Sam Ferrell, John David Ferrell and Jack Ferrell; and his sister-in-law Martrelle Kinchen.
