She was predeceased by: her husband Bobby Penland; her parents, Dennis McTaggart and Inez McTaggart; and her brothers, Cecil, Howard and Keith McTaggart.
She is survived by: her children, Rebecca Penland Bruce (Mike) and Michael Scott Penland; her granddaughters, Christina Bruce (Michael Crow) and Lora Bruce Carrion (Sebastian); her great grandchildren, Briar Crow and Peyton Carrion; and her sisters, Louise McTaggart (Abe Shahin) and Reba Dockery (Paul). She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prospect United Methodist Church in memory of Ruth Penland.
