He is survived by: his wife Phyllis McDaniel Lakey; his children, DeAnna Elaine Gunter (Darryl) of Flowery Branch, GA and Gary Nelson Lakey (Elizabeth) of Texas; his grandchildren, Bradley Gunter, Elise Lakey and Emma Lakey; his great grandchildren, David Gunter and Sara Gunter; his sister Patricia Michko (Jack) of Greenville, SC; his siblings-in-law, Linda McDaniel Barr, Diane McDaniel Sweatman, Gaye Lakey, Calvin Bryan and David Lancaster; and his niece Vanessa Cox. He is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
