He was predeceased by: his parents, Pedro Ruiz and Claudia Zavala; his wife Valeria Chavez; and his son Israel Chavez. He is survived by: his children, Lucio Chavez, Vilma Chavez, Melba E. Palacios, Lidia Benitez, Maria Estrada, Susana Gomez, Consuelo Fuentes, Emma Majano and Catalina Grogan. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
