She was predeceased by: her husband Ernest Woodie Smith Jr. of Stockbridge, GA; her granddaughter Samantha McKensie Smith of Atlanta, GA; her siblings, Roy Brown, Emory Brown, Mary Chitwood, Clara Carter and Donald Brown; and her parents, E. Spear Brown and Maranda Christine Kytle.

She is survived by: her children, Linda (Rick), Rarick of Rockport, TX and Edward (Kellie); her sister Elizabeth Carmichael of Canton, GA; and her grandchildren, Rachel Wilkins of Houston, TX, Taylor Wilkins of Austin, TX, Kristina Colon of Atlanta, GA, Madeline Rarick of Waco, TX and Matthew Smith of Braselton, GA.
