He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Smith and Myrtis Dixon Smith; his wife Iris Middleton Smith; his son Byron Smith; his grandsons, Chadwick Lewis and Luke Davis; and his siblings, Barney Smith, Harry Smith, Claude Smith and Marion Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Evangeline Crews of Hortense, Gloria Davis (Ronald) of Hortense, Wynell Lewis (Charles) of Hortense and Barrett Smith (Darryl Smith); and also, Hilda McMonigle of Brunswick, Rosemary Strickland (Wade) of Brunswick and Jean Thomas (Arthur) of Nahunta. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 sisters.
