He was predeceased by: his brothers, Martin and Stewart Proudfoot. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ross Proudfoot of Mt. Pleasant Community; his children, Shirley "Shirl" Shirah (Sammy) of Darien and Ricky Proudfoot (Ginger) of Mt. Pleasant Community; and his grandchildren, Richie, Rebecca Proudfoot and Joshua Sumner.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Akin Memorial United Methodist Church, 836 Post Road, Hortense, Ga. 31543.
