He was predeceased by: his parents, Shimmeal Griffin and Rosetta McSwain Griffin McCoy. He is survived by: his wife Jenny May Griffin; his children, Lavonda Griffin, Sadie Griffin, Teresa James, John Griffin, Jr. of Douglas, Clay Griffin of Douglas, Frank May, Pearsom, Heath Thompson, Kevin Thompson and Samuel Griffin; and his brothers, James Griffin and Nathaniel Griffin. He is also survived by other grandchildren and great grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
