He is survived by: his wife Janice Steedley Douglas of Homerville, GA; his children, Minda McCants (Terry), JaNice Holmes (Ric) and James E. Douglas Sr. (Judy); his sister Leatha Smith of Pine Bluff, AR; his grandchildren, Jill Hatton (Tim), Jed Douglas (Martha), Jonathan McCants (Amanda) and Jay McCants (Heather); and his great grandchildren, Dowry, Caroline, Catherine, Jude, Frank, Aidan, Micah, Ellie, Olivia and Isaac. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
