He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Avery and Molly Sue Redmon Parson; his brother Nelson Avery Parson; and his close friends, Nappy and Kadia.

He is survived by: his wife Debbie Banks Parson; his children, Tyler Parson (Samantha) and Brandi Parson Ashley (Jeff); his siblings, Randy Parson and Susan Parson Blalock (Chester); and his grandson Brayden Ashley.
