He was predeceased by: his parents, Era Sterling and Mamie White Ayers; and his wife Brenda Mathis Ayers. He is survived by: his sons, Trent Ayers of Homer and Dean Ayers of Homer; and his sister Barbara Ann Hillman of Hiawassee. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
