He was predeceased by: his mother Minda Shook Ayers; his wife Gladys Mae Anderson Ayers; his son David Lee Ayers; his grandsons, Rev. Jonathan Ayers and Mark Ayers; and his siblings, Boyd Ayers, Bob Ayers and JoAnn Bradley.
He is survived by: his father John Ayers; his children, Ann Trexler (David), Cathy Martin (Timmy), John Ayers (Anna), Jeff Ayers (Lisa), Tim Ayers (LeLonie) and Nat Ayers; and his sister Louise Hurley. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home (175 VFW Rd, Cornelia, GA 30531). A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Chapel (175 VFW Rd, Cornelia, GA 30531).
