He was predeceased by: his wife Carol; his parents, JC Dodgen and Velma Dodgen; and his brothers, Charlie Wayne Dodgen (CW) and Tommy Dodgen.

He is survived by: his sisters, Elizabeth, Stephanie and Angel; his children, Jim Ed Dodgen, Alisha Patterson and Samantha Thomason; his grandchildren, Savannah Marshall, Tim Thomason (Jackie), Jon Thomason (Caitlyn), Brady Thomason, Ajia McGuire, Morgan McGuire and Gracen Anne Patterson; and also Elaine Marshall. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
