He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Ernest Toney and Annie Ruth May Toney; his wife Linda Caldwell Toney; his stepson Danny Burke; his grandson Mason Toney; and his siblings, Annie Kate Foster, Grady C. Toney, Harold J. Toney, Samuel Phillip Toney, Quillian E. Toney, Joe Wallace Toney and James Lamar Toney.
He is survived by: his sons, Donald Toney of Hogansville, Karl Toney of LaGrange, Michael Toney of Hogansville, Milton and Whitney Toney of LaGrange; his stepson Andy (Renee Burke); his daughter-in-law Anne Burke of LaGrange; and his sister Jeanette Teague of Douglasville. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
