He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Franklin Bennett and Effie Lee Brack Bennett; and his siblings, Joyce Sapp, James Bennett, Benjamin Bennett, Billy Allen, Leroy Bennett and Bud Bennett.
He is survived by: his wife Jeannette Bennett of Hoboken; his children, Steven Tripp (Dawn) of Eastman, GA., Edgar Richard Bennett, Jr. (Melissa) of Hilliard and Valarie Ann Mackie (Fiance' Tyrell Stevens); his sisters, Mattie Heath of Eastman, GA. and Jane Selph of Eastman, GA.; and his siblings-in-law, Patsy Witherspoon (Mike), Jacquelyn Evans (Arnold), Margaret Hall (Melvin), Presley Gill (Cindy) and Kenneth Gill (Rose). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren.
