He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman "Sam" Swain and Lula Swain; and his siblings, Doris McFry, Dot Swain, Faye Crawford and Boone Swain.
He is survived by: his wife Shelia Swain; his son Sam Swain (Jennifer Falls); and his sisters, Kay Montgomery (Johnny) and Wanda Shults. He is also survived by his grandchildren.
