He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Knolton Shumpert and Leila Mozelle Shumpert. He is survived by: his wife Claudia B. Shumpert; his children, Jera Shumpert (Gina) and Angela Lumsden (George); his brother Paul Shumpert (Jean); his grandchildren, Jana Yates, Jake Shumpert, Ben Lumsden, Jessica Hancock and Bradley Lumsden; and his great grandchildren, Elijah Yates, Elizabeth Grace Yates, Abagail Leigh Yates, Robert Paul "Bo" Shumpert, Patricia Kate Shumpert, Jeremiah Riner "Ri" Shumpert and Wyatt McCoy Lumsden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jay's honor towards Elevate Christian Church.
