He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathaniel "Andy" Nelson and Ruth Nelson; his wife Elsie Marie Nelson; his sons, Ricky Lee Nelson, Dennis Ray Nelson and Phillip Ray Nelson; his sisters, Kate Nelson Allaback, Elizabeth Nelson and Sandra Kay Nelson Dougherty; his son-in-law James Williams; and his mother-in-law Norma Wallace McBee.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sherry Nelson Shaffer (Gene), Joyce Nelson Kirkpatrick (Robert) and Cathy Nelson Williams; and his brother Jerry Nelson (Eddie May). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
