She was predeceased by: her father John Rodgers; and her siblings, John Rodgers and Jeanine Rodgers. She is survived by: her husband Earnest Simmons; her children, Earnest Simmons Jr. (Sherry), Deborah Tillman (Daniel) and Donna Colbert (Ray); her sister Ruth Cavender; her grandchildren, Earnest Simmons III (Mary Beth), Stephen Simmons (Kelsey), Jennifer Jones (Brandon), James Colbert, David Colbert and Thomas Colbert; her great grandchildren, Hannah Simmons, Ethan Simmons and Ellie Simmons; and her nephew Robert Simmons. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations towards the New Season Church Building Fund.
