She is survived by: her husband Jeff Garris; her son Max Van Meter; her mother Judy Sheffield Cooper; her brother Ron Cooper (Nita); her niece Claudia Cooper-Hicks (Ashlee); her aunts, Ruth Cooper, Peggy Fuller (Charles) and Julia Lindsay; and also Steve Van Meter. She is also survived by loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church (2056 Hiram Douglasville Hwy, Hiram, GA 30141). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

As an alternative to flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SafePath Children's Advocacy Center, 736 Whitlock Avenue SW, Marietta, Georgia 30064 (http://www.safepath.org), a cause that was dear to Cheri's heart, or to Poplar Springs Historic Cemetery Fund, c/o Kellie Brooks, 357 Brooks Rackley Road, Dallas, Georgia 30157.

Every year for over 10 years donating to our Adopt a Family was a true blessing. Her kind spirit will live on in the children who had a Christmas due to Cheri's dedication.
