He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Van Valkenburgh and Lillian Colburn; and his stepfather Kenneth Colburn. He is survived by: his wife Sung Hui Van Valkenburgh; his daughters, Rebecca Taul of Raleigh, NC and Jennifer Williams; his grandchildren, Jessica Mae Williams, Jamie Lynn Williams, Jacob Kaleb Izaiah Benton, Halie Sung Hui Karlen, Kalen Jamal Smedley and Jayden Lamar Smedley; and his great grandchildren, Aaron, Jalen, Conner, Pikka and Ruby.
