John M. Shipman Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John M. Shipman of Hephzibah, Georgia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 23, 2025 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edward Shipman and Mary Clayton Shipman. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Stewart Shipman; his children, John Shipman II, Melissa Barnes (Dewayne) and Becky Brooker (Adam); his grandchildren, Jacy Shipman, Christopher Shipman, Michael Barnes, Paige Barnes, Joshua Barnes, Tyler Barnes, Tripp Cibak, Abraham Cibak, Adelyn Cibak, Luke Provost and Carson Brooker; his great grandchildren, Eleanor Shipman and Jace Shipman; and his siblings, Tommy Shipman, Debbie Bradley (Larry) and Mary Ann Klein (Tom).

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Chance & Hydrick Funeral Home (2502 Richmond Hill Rd, Augusta, GA 30906). A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Hillcrest Memorial Park (2700 Deans Bridge Rd, Augusta, GA 30906).

At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Silvercrest Baptist Church, Pavement Fund, PO Box 5518, Augusta, GA 30916.
