He was predeceased by: his parents, E. S. Thomas and Edna Avrett Thomas; and his siblings, Barbara (Bill Aldridge), George Leroy Thomas, Billy Clark Thomas and John David Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy J. Thomas; his children, Gene Thomas (Shannon) of Augusta and Renée Wilson (Norman) of Millen; his stepchildren, Andy James of Keysville, Merle James (Lesa) of Augusta and Dorothy James (John) of Hephzibah; his grandchildren, Alexandria Powell of Augusta, Brock Thomas of Augusta, Justin Wilson (Brittany) of Millen and Zachary Wilson of Millen; his stepgrandchildren, Andrea James of Augusta and Paige James of Hephzibah; his great grandchild John Michael Wilson; his siblings, Melvis McCullough of Waynesboro, Dorothy Dickey (Junior) of Fair Play, SC, Edward Thomas (Sarah) of Waynesboro, Norman Thomas of Waynesboro and Becky Phillips (Joey) of Waynesboro; and his sisters-in-law, Alice Bell Thomas of Waynesboro and Kaye Barefield Thomas of Waynesboro. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members.
