She was predeceased by: her husband Clarence W. Gilmer; her parents, Wayman Blunt and Marcella Thompson Blunt; her son Michael E. Gilmer, Sr.; and her siblings, Geraldine Longshore (Luke), Everett Blunt (Marva) and William F. Blunt.
She is survived by: her children, Renee Whitfield, Charles Whitfield, Jr. (Rhonda), Allison Whitfield, Clarice Gilmer, Renisha Whitfield, Antonio Ford (Cassandra), Jarrod McBride, Marvin Martin (Lynette), A'nne Moyè (Xzavier) and Niketrest Reeves; her siblings, John Blunt (Mary), Tina Thompson, Dena Bradley, Diane Rolland and Virgina Mercer; and her sister-in-law Marie Williams. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
