He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe W. Newell and Ruby Burkett Newell; his son Robert Morris; his grandson Austin Morris; and his brothers, Gailand Newell and Joe Newell, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Lynda Joyce Newell of Hazlehurst; his children, Judy McDaniel (Bloyce Coy, Jr.) of Hazlehurst, Carolyn Wills of Dublin, David Morris (Eve) of Hazlehurst and Jesse Newell, Jr. (Sherry) of Hazlehurst; and his granddaughter Cindy White (James). He is also survived by forty-one grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
