He is survived by: his wife Virginia Poe Carter of Hazlehurst; his sons, Joseph Carter of Hazlehurst and Mike Merritt of Hazlehurst; his siblings, Jackie Hall of Baxley, Danny Carter of Baxley and David Carter of Baxley; his grandchildren, Jocelynn Carter, Bailey Carter, Jacob Carter, Jessica Lee and Cory Carter; and his great grandchildren, Gavin Johnson, Grayson Johnson, Annilynn Miller, Mattie Lee and Adyson Lee. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
