He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Chavis and Mary Kersey Chavis; his wife Shirley Chavis; his siblings, Billy Chavis, Barbara Smith, Patsy Dyson, Virginia Griffin and Hazel Ann Davis; and his niece Pixie Gay.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Chavis of Hazlehurst, Mark Shepard, Jr. of Hazlehurst and Amy Waters of Hazlehurst; his sisters, Peggy Dyal of Hazlehurst, Joan Neal of Hazlehurst, Debbie Dean of Waycross and Pam Register (Terrell) of Hazlehurst; and his grandchildren, Lexus Prescott (Tyler) of Guyton, Kolby Waters of Hazlehurst, Ebon Waters of Hazlehurst, Taylor Halligan of Hazlehurst and Bailee Chavis of Hazlehurst.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery (38 Cook Rd, Hazlehurst, GA 31539).
