He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe L. Edwards and Frances Hall Edwards; and his sister Marjorie E. Temples. He is survived by: his wife Betty Ammons Edwards; his sons, Mike Edwards (Jackie), Columbia and Joe Edwards (Cheryl) of Tampa; and his grandchildren, Jonathan Edwards, Matthew Edwards, Benjamin Edwards and Megan Edwards.
