She was predeceased by: her sister Mae Frances Teasley (Craft); her husband Nathaniel Stowers; her parents, Lonnie Teasley and Laura Frances Rucker; her grandchildren, Tanesha and Shapoylie McCurry; and her siblings, Mae Frances Craft, William Teasley, Author Rucker Jr., Walter Rucker, George Rucker and Tommie Rucker.

She is survived by: her children, Nathaniel Stowers Jr., Betty Ann Rucker (Roy), Bishop-Elect Gail Blackwell, Terry Stowers, Emily Stowers, Patricia Stowers (Terah), Keith Stowers (Melinda) and Rosalyn Stowers; her close friend Hattie Sue Hill; and her sons, Michael and Rodney Stowers. She is also survived by her stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of relatives and friends.
