She was predeceased by: her parents, William Wayne Lavenhagen and Ellen Gammell Kitchens; her former husband Carl Lambert; and her brother Mike Lavenhagen. She is survived by: her husband Richard Brister; her children, Barbara Lambert McGuigan (John), Michael Lambert (Maybelle), Nicole McGuigan (Scott) and Kurt Brister (Susan); her brothers, Terrance Lavenhagen (Sue) and Bill Lavenhagen (Mary Jo); her grandchildren, Katie McGuigan Bloodworth (Alex), Mary Claire McGuigan, Matthew McGuigan, Morgan McGuigan, Sarah Brister and Lauren Brister; and her great grandchildren, Landon and Olivia Bloodworth.

The family has requested no flowers and that donations can be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN. 38105, Butterfly Dreams Farm Therapeutic Riding Program, PO BOX 622, Watkinsville, GA. 30677, or The Parkinsons Foundation/Michael J Fox PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

“Your wife, mother, grandmother and sister blessed this broken individual with one of the most amazing gifts I ever! She blessed me with a pilgrimage to the Holy Land this past Nov 1st thru 10th. She had never met me she was just told my story by Pastor Carter Tucker. I was able to meet Mrs. Merilee face to face one Friday the end of November at Market 50 in Hartwell! Their aren’t words to express my gratitude to her for that trip. My prayers and blessings to each one of you. Katie Brown”
