He was predeceased by: his parents, John Harvin Gantt Sr. and Effie Louise Swafford Gantt; and his siblings, Billy Gantt and Sherry Phelps. He is survived by: his wife Judy H. Gantt; his children, Michael Gantt of Douglasville, GA, Tom Shumaker (Wendy) of Marietta, GA and Dottie Nash of Cumming, GA; his siblings, David Gantt of Tallahassee, FL and Pam Weil of Longwood, FL; his grandchildren, Leslie Weston, Lance Wright (Amy Jo), Brandi Chambers and Melissa Hunter (Logan); and his great grandchildren, Olivia Best, Rilla Best, Deacon Wright and Braxton Wright.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Strickland Funeral Home-Hartwell (305 Cleveland Ave, Hartwell, GA 30643). A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hartwell Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home (305 Cleveland Ave, Hartwell, GA 30643).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
