He was predeceased by: his parents, Minter Bobo Starnes and Effie Brady Starnes; his former wife Audrey Louise Cobb Starnes; his son Doug Starnes; and his siblings, Willie Lee, Lawrence, Leonard, Tolly, Randolph Starnes and Virginia "Jink" Carson.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Scarboro Starnes of Hartwell; and his children, Mike Starnes (Robin) of Piedmont, SC, Tommy Starnes (Terry) of Belton, SC, Diane Durham (Louie) of Laurens, SC, Lynn Bishop (George) of Anderson, SC, Tammy Strickland (Arnold) of Hartwell and Gina Grant (Tommy) of Williamston, SC. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-nine great grandchildren.
