With heavy hearts, we announce the death of George T. Dowell in Hartwell, Georgia, born in Royston, Georgia, who passed away on August 25, 2020 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Harvey Dowell and Pairlee Burch Dowell; and his siblings, Lee Dowell, Henry Dowell, Willie Dowell, Ernest Dowell, Harvey Dowell, Benson Dowell, Lula Mae Bryant, Beulah D. McCollum, Eula D. Crowe, Julie D. Fountain and Mary Alice Dowell.
He is survived by: his wife Ruby Scott Dowell; his children, David T. Dowell (Judy) of Bogart, GA, Brenda D. Herring (Mike) of Hartwell and Phyllis D. Hairston of Royston; his grandchildren, Jonathan Herring, Michelle Brantley (Jon), Mitchell Dowell and Morgan Dowell; his great grandchildren, Jon Marc Brantley (Jessica), James Brantley and Katie Brantley; and his great great grandchild Jon Marc Brantley III.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 p. m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, everyone will be asked to practice Social Distancing.
