He was predeceased by: his parents, O. Z. Starks and Rossie Sims Starks Morrison; his wife Emma Frances Sloan Starks; his children, Mary Drye, Reginald Hughes and Anthony Teasley; and his siblings, Willie Starks, Edgar Starks and Lillie Mayfield.
He is survived by: his son Melvin Courtney Drye of Hartwell; and his grandchildren, Takeyia Wilkins, Lakeisha McLendon (Tori), Takisha Teasley, Melkendric Drye and Timpestt Daniels. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
Due to Covid-19 the family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
