It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Vickery Payne of Hartwell, Georgia, who passed away on February 3, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Isham Cordell and Fannie Craft Cordell; her husbands, Schafer Vickery Sr. and Alex Payne; her grandchildren, Chancie, Skylar and Sadie Vickery; and her brothers, Harold, Gaines, William "Brick" and Amos Cordell.
She is survived by: her children, Joy McCurley of Hartwell, Schafer "Junior" Vickery (Janet) of Hartwell, Mike Vickery (Sherry) of Hartwell and Mark Vickery (Pam) of Hartwell; and her brother Tom Cordell (Polly) of Hartwell. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren.
